The Chhattisgarh government has taken a significant step to streamline the availability and distribution of LPG across the state. Food Department Secretary Reena Baba Saheb Kangale chaired a high-level review meeting with regional managers of oil companies to assess the current LPG supply system and implement necessary reforms. During the meeting, key decisions were taken to ensure a balanced and priority-based distribution of LPG. It was decided that commercial LPG consumers and establishments will now receive a maximum of 20% of their previous month’s total consumption, ensuring optimal utilization of available stock.

To improve consumer convenience, authorities have been directed to ensure that online LPG refill booking is made available within 25 days in urban areas and 45 days in rural areas, allowing timely access to gas supplies.

In order to maintain smooth distribution and avoid chaos, district administrations have been instructed to deploy police and home guard personnel at LPG distributor offices and warehouses. Distributors have also been directed to keep their contact numbers active and address consumer grievances promptly.

The government has also defined priority categories for LPG supply based on essential needs. These include educational institutions, hospitals, military and paramilitary camps, jails, hotels, social welfare institutions, railway and airport canteens, government offices, guest houses, animal feed production units, and restaurants.

Additionally, it has been decided that daily monitoring of LPG stock and distribution will be carried out by oil companies, and regular updates will be shared with the department to ensure transparency and efficiency in the system.

The meeting was attended by Director of Food and Civil Supplies Dr. Fariha Alam, Member Secretary of the State Food Commission Rajeev Kumar Jaiswal, Indian Oil Corporation LPG Head Shripad Bakshi, Bharat Petroleum Regional Manager Dilip Meena, Hindustan Petroleum Regional Manager Mangesh Dongre, along with other officials.
