Chhattisgarh has secured the top position in the country in the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), showcasing its strong administrative efficiency and commitment to welfare delivery. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the state has ensured not only the swift execution of the scheme but also its timely reach to beneficiaries across all sections of society. The central scheme, aimed at promoting nutrition and healthcare support for pregnant women, has been implemented effectively in the state. With rapid grievance redressal and a strong focus on approvals, Chhattisgarh has outperformed large states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Uttar Pradesh. This achievement reflects the collective efforts of Anganwadi workers, supervisors, project officers, and state-level officials, whose dedication and commitment played a crucial role.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai emphasized that maternal and child health remains a top priority for the state government. He stated that through PMMVY, financial assistance is being provided to pregnant women to promote safe motherhood, and the state’s top ranking is a result of consistent and focused efforts.
How the State Achieved This Milestone

Continuous monitoring of the scheme and a strong focus on beneficiary registration played a key role in this success. In 2023–24, a total of 1,75,797 pregnant women registered under the scheme, which increased to 2,19,012 in 2024–25. In 2025–26, till February, 2,04,138 registrations have been recorded, achieving 93.3% of the target.
The state also emphasized quick approvals after registration. The process—from form filling by Anganwadi workers to verification by supervisors and final approvals by project and state-level officers—was expedited. Around 83% of applications were verified and forwarded for payment, while the approval rate from the Centre stood at 83.87%, the highest in the country.
Grievance Redressal Performance

Special attention was given to grievance resolution, with most complaints related to payment delays. The state acted promptly to address issues and rectify deficiencies. While central data indicates that around 7% of complaints remained pending beyond 30 days, Chhattisgarh successfully resolved 93% of grievances, securing the top position nationally.
Three-Year Performance Overview
Over the past three years, a total of 5,98,947 pregnant women have been registered under the scheme in Chhattisgarh, out of which 5,40,624 beneficiaries have received approvals.
Benefits Under the Scheme

Under PMMVY, pregnant women receive ₹5,000 as financial assistance, while an additional ₹6,000 is provided on the birth of a second girl child. The amount is disbursed in three installments—₹1,000 at registration, ₹2,000 after six months, and ₹2,000 after childbirth, registration, and vaccination.
The scheme aims to promote institutional deliveries and reduce infant mortality, while ensuring better health and nutrition support for mothers and children.
