The men’s 88 kg weightlifting competition at the Khelo India Tribal Games 2026 witnessed an intense and thrilling contest at the Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University Sports Ground in Raipur, with top participants from across the country delivering impressive performances.
Ruba Tadu from Arunachal Pradesh emerged as the champion, lifting a total of 274 kg to secure the gold medal. His performance included 117 kg in snatch and 157 kg in clean and jerk, ensuring a dominant finish at the top.

Devarakonda Prema Sagar from Andhra Pradesh claimed the silver medal with a total lift of 270 kg, while Soram Hitler Tagru, also from Arunachal Pradesh, secured the bronze with 262 kg.

In other notable performances, Sanatan Malik of Odisha finished fourth with 249 kg, followed closely by Pritam Sonowal of Assam at fifth with 248 kg. Madhya Pradesh’s Prithviraj Chauhan secured sixth place with 226 kg.

Participants from other states also showcased their strength and determination, including Daniel Jamatia (Tripura), Alester Gomes (Goa), Siddaboina Naveen (Telangana), and Chhatrapal Thakur (Chhattisgarh), gaining valuable competitive experience.

The competition highlighted fierce rivalry among athletes, with each participant striving to deliver their best. The event not only provided a platform for emerging talent but also strengthened the spirit of sportsmanship and unity among different states.
