A major political development is unfolding in Haryana as voting for two Rajya Sabha seats has begun in the state assembly complex. The election has drawn significant attention across the country due to the closely watched political contest.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini was the first to cast his vote at the assembly, marking the beginning of the voting process. Polling will continue until 4 PM, while counting of votes will take place at 5 PM, after which the results will be announced.

Ahead of the election, Congress MLAs had been staying in Kasauli in Himachal Pradesh. On Tuesday morning, they arrived in Chandigarh and first gathered at the residence of former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda before heading to the assembly to participate in the voting process.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party also directed all its MLAs to reach the assembly for voting. On the candidate front, the BJP has fielded former MP Sanjay Bhatia, while the Indian National Congress has nominated Karmveer Bauddh. Additionally, BJP leader Satish Nandal is contesting as an independent candidate, making the contest more interesting.

In the 90-member Haryana Assembly, a candidate needs a quota of 31 votes to secure victory if all MLAs cast their votes. According to the current political arithmetic, both the BJP and Congress appear likely to win one seat each. However, the equation could change if cross-voting occurs or if any vote is declared invalid, which could benefit independent candidate Satish Nandal.

The stance of the Indian National Lok Dal is also being closely watched, as there are indications that its two MLAs may stay away from the election. Their decision could potentially influence the final outcome of the contest.
