Casualties are feared after an Indian Army vehicle met with a serious accident in the Khannitop area along the strategically important Bhaderwah–Chamba inter-state road in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

According to official sources, the Army vehicle reportedly skidded off the road under unknown circumstances while navigating the mountainous stretch of the highway. The vehicle is believed to have plunged down a slope, raising fears of injuries among the Army personnel onboard.

Soon after the incident, local authorities, Army rescue units, police teams, and emergency responders rushed to the spot. Rescue and relief operations were immediately launched despite challenging terrain and weather conditions in the high-altitude area.

Sources said that casualties are feared in the incident; however, the exact number of injured or possible fatalities has not yet been officially confirmed. Efforts are underway to retrieve the vehicle and evacuate the affected personnel to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
The Bhaderwah–Chamba road is known for its narrow stretches, sharp turns, and frequent landslide-prone zones, especially during winter and adverse weather conditions. Officials said that the cause of the accident is being investigated, and further details will be shared once the situation becomes clearer.

Meanwhile, senior Army and civil administration officials are closely monitoring the rescue operations. Traffic movement on the route has been affected as a precautionary measure to facilitate emergency response teams.
