On the occasion of International Day of Happiness, a unique and positive initiative has emerged from Madhya Pradesh, where students will now be taught not just academic subjects, but also how to be happy.
The State Anand Institute has developed a Happiness Education curriculum for students of Classes 9 and 10. The program is set to be introduced as a pilot project in around 4,000 schools across the state.

The course includes a structured module of 32 lectures focusing on life values, positive thinking, relationships, and mental well-being.

In a first-of-its-kind initiative, Madhya Pradesh is also preparing to launch its own “Happiness Index,” which will measure the well-being of people across districts based on 17 key parameters.

A national seminar on happiness is also being organized in Bhopal today, with participation from senior officials of multiple states.

With this initiative, Madhya Pradesh aims to move beyond development and establish “happiness” as a key indicator of progress.
