Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan arrived in Srinagar on Wednesday evening for a two-day official visit to Jammu and Kashmir. A special business Boeing aircraft carrying the Vice President landed at Srinagar Airport amid tight security arrangements.

He was received at the airport by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Srinagar-headquartered 15 Corps of the Army, and Director General of Police.

Following his arrival, the Vice President travelled in a secured cavalcade to the Raj Bhavan Srinagar located in the scenic Chashma Shahi area, where he will stay during his visit.

This marks Vice President Radhakrishnan’s first visit to Jammu and Kashmir after assuming office, making the trip significant both administratively and ceremonially.
On Thursday, he is scheduled to attend the 21st Convocation Ceremony of the University of Kashmir at its Hazratbal campus as the Chief Guest. The Lieutenant Governor serves as the Chancellor of the university, while the Chief Minister holds the position of Pro-Chancellor.

The visit is expected to highlight the Centre’s continued engagement with Jammu and Kashmir’s academic and institutional landscape.
