A devastating incident has been reported from Indore, where a massive fire triggered during electric vehicle (EV) charging claimed the lives of seven people, including a prominent businessman. Three others are reported to be in critical condition.

The incident occurred around 4 AM in Greater Brijeshwari Colony near Bengali Square. According to initial reports, a short circuit during the charging of an electric car sparked the fire, which quickly spread and engulfed a three-storey residential building.

As the fire intensified, gas cylinders inside the house began exploding, worsening the situation and causing panic in the surrounding area. The intensity of the flames and successive blasts left the occupants with little to no time to escape.

In a particularly tragic turn, a power outage reportedly caused the home’s electronic locking system to fail, preventing the family from unlocking the doors and escaping the blaze. As a result, they remained trapped inside the burning house.

Authorities and fire services rushed to the scene and launched rescue operations. The cause of the incident is currently under investigation.

This heartbreaking tragedy has once again raised serious concerns about fire safety measures, EV charging protocols, and the risks associated with electronic locking systems during emergencies.
