INDIA FIRST . CHHATISGARH | NEMISH AGRAWAL

A major controversy has surfaced from Dongargarh in Chhattisgarh, raising serious concerns over police conduct and transparency. The issue came to light after a video allegedly showing a financial transaction inside the police station premises went viral on social media, triggering widespread outrage. In the viral clip, a uniformed police personnel is seen allegedly accepting money within the police station. While the video has not been officially verified in the initial stages, the visuals appeared clear enough to spark public debate and scrutiny.

According to sources, the video reportedly shows ASI Rohit Khunte present inside the station premises. During this time, another constable, Laxmishankar Kanwar, is seen arriving at the spot and allegedly taking money, which he then puts into his pocket.

Local residents have expressed serious concerns, alleging that Dongargarh Police Station has turned into a “transaction hub” rather than a place for justice. Complaints suggest that money is often demanded for registering FIRs or even for reducing the severity of charges against accused individuals.

Following the circulation of the video, the district police administration acted swiftly. Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma took serious note of the matter and ordered immediate action. Both ASI Rohit Khunte and Constable Laxmishankar Kanwar have been suspended pending further investigation. The case has now become a critical test for the department’s accountability. It remains to be seen how the investigation progresses and whether more officials will come under the scanner.

For now, the swift suspension sends a strong message that the police department is committed to a zero-tolerance policy against corruption and indiscipline.
