Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav delivered a detailed statement on the Farmer Welfare Year 2026 during the current assembly session on Monday. He made several important announcements for the empowerment of the state’s farmers and the overall development of crops.

The Chief Minister first announced the inclusion of mustard crop in the Bhavantar Yojana. He said that this year, mustard acreage has increased by approximately 28 percent compared to last year, and according to the second advance estimate, production will be 15.71 lakh metric tons.
The current market price for mustard in January is ₹6,000 per quintal, while the minimum support price (MSP) set by the central government is ₹6,200 per quintal. The Chief Minister said that farmers registered under the Bhavantar Yojana will be provided a fair price for their produce.
On the Urad Promotion Scheme, he stated that, in response to marketing challenges arising from the increased production of the summer mung bean crop, a bonus of Rs 600 per quintal will be provided to urad farmers. This amount will be in addition to the MSP, providing additional benefits to farmers.

In addition, the Chief Minister shared a detailed plan for the procurement of chickpea and lentil crops. A proposal for procurement of 6.49 lakh metric tons of chickpea and 6.01 lakh metric tons of lentil has been sent to the Government of India. The procurement period is scheduled from March 24 to May 30, 2026, and farmer registration is ongoing from February 20 to March 16, 2026.
The Chief Minister also informed the Central Government about a proposal for the pigeon pea crop. Under the Price Support Scheme for the kharif tur crop, 1.31 lakh metric tons will be directly procured in the state.

Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the government is taking every possible step for the betterment of farmers. This includes providing adequate irrigation, electricity, and agricultural loans, as well as encouraging crop diversification and value addition.
Through this initiative, important steps are being taken towards increasing farmers’ income, better prices for their produce, and sustainable development of agricultural products in the state.
