In a major initiative to promote India’s rich cultural and educational heritage, the Government of Madhya Pradesh, under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, will celebrate Maharshi Sandipani Guru Parv across the state on Guru Purnima (July 29).

Schools, colleges, universities and educational institutions will organise Guru Vandana, cultural programmes, literary events and activities highlighting India’s ancient Guru-Shishya (teacher-disciple) tradition and knowledge system.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will also launch the ‘Lord Shri Krishna Merit Scholarship Scheme’. Under the scheme, a state-level competition based on Lord Shri Krishna’s 14 Vidyas, 64 Kalas and the Indian Knowledge System will be conducted. A total of 102 meritorious students will receive a ₹1 lakh scholarship each.

Shriram Tiwari, Director of Veer Bharat Nyas and Cultural Advisor to the Chief Minister, said that Lord Shri Krishna’s greatness was shaped not only by his divine qualities but also by the education, discipline and values he received from Maharshi Sandipani. He added that the initiative aims to reconnect the younger generation with India’s timeless traditions, cultural values and intellectual heritage.

According to Tiwari, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has consistently emphasised the revival of India’s civilisational ethos through education. The celebration of Maharshi Sandipani Guru Parv and the launch of the Lord Shri Krishna Merit Scholarship Scheme reflect the state’s commitment to nurturing knowledge, character, leadership and patriotism among students.

The Madhya Pradesh Government believes the initiative will not only recognise academic excellence but also strengthen the Guru-Shishya tradition and establish the state as a leading centre for the promotion of India’s knowledge heritage.

Objectives of the Trust
Identification, development, preservation, and documentation—including photography, filming, and illustration—of sites in Madhya Pradesh associated with the journeys of Lord Shri Krishna.

Preservation of the temples, water bodies, forest resources, and gardens at these sites, and their promotion at national and international levels.

Establishment of the Sandipani Gurukul in Ujjain for formal education in the 14 *Vidyas* (branches of knowledge) and 64 *Kalas* (arts).

Construction and operation of auditoriums, community centers, and pilgrim rest houses (*Dharamshalas*).

Fostering the heritage of education, culture, agriculture, and the rearing of cows and livestock.

Connecting the new generation emotionally and experientially with the stories of Lord Shri Krishna and the sites associated with His journeys.

Establishment of libraries, museums, and information centers for tourists, researchers, the youth, and students.

Documenting the contributions of the sages, saints, thinkers, poets, writers, artists, and scientists who established Shri Krishna as *Jagadguru* (Universal Teacher).
