A striking image from Bhopal has raised serious questions about accountability in public works.
In Bairasia, a delay in laying water pipelines has escalated into a major controversy. Angered by the prolonged delay, a local council representative smeared ink on the face of the contractor’s supervisor—a photo of which has now gone viral across social media.

The project, part of the Amrit 2.0 Water Supply Scheme, was launched with an estimated cost of ₹22 crore but has remained incomplete for the past two years.
The city’s roads have been dug up and left unattended, leaving behind potholes, dust, and potential hazards—an everyday struggle for local residents.

Locals allege that despite repeated complaints, they have received nothing but assurances, with no tangible progress. This mounting frustration has now boiled over into a public display of anger.

The bigger question remains: Will delays in development projects continue to be met with such extreme reactions? And when will the responsible authorities be held accountable?
