By personally filling out his details on the official portal, the Chief Minister set an example and urged citizens to actively participate in this nationwide exercise.

Digital and Transparent Census Process Begins
Highlighting the scale of the exercise, CM Sai said that India is conducting one of the world’s largest census operations, and Chhattisgarh has now begun its online self-enumeration process from April 16 to April 30, 2026.
He emphasized that this time the census has been designed in a modern, digital format, making it more transparent, accessible, and efficient for citizens.

Census: Key to Policy Planning and Development
The Chief Minister stated that the census is not merely a data collection exercise but a crucial foundation for determining the future direction of the nation and the state.
“The data collected during the census helps the government design policies for the coming years, ensuring that the benefits of development reach every section of society effectively,” he said.

House Listing Phase from May 1
CM Sai informed that the first phase of the census will begin on May 1, 2026, which will involve house listing and enumeration.
Till May 30, enumerators will visit households to collect detailed information about:
Residential and non-residential buildings
Housing conditions and usage
Basic amenities such as drinking water, toilets, electricity
Availability of LPG, internet, and communication facilities
Appeal for Accurate Information

The Chief Minister urged citizens to provide accurate, clear, and complete information when enumerators visit their homes. He reassured that all personal data collected during the census will remain strictly confidential and will be used only for statistical and policy-making purposes.
Towards ‘Viksit Chhattisgarh 2047’
CM Sai said that Chhattisgarh is steadily progressing on the path of development, and the census will play a vital role in achieving the vision of “Viksit Chhattisgarh 2047.”
He stressed that accurate data is the backbone of effective governance and development planning, and called upon citizens to make this census a people’s movement through active participation.
